Take the Step

Step: is defined as an act or movement of putting one foot in front of the other; to walk or move in a new position.

Making the first step involves both physical and mental capacity. It’s what we call faith; making the step at the right time in faith.  We require of a lot of God; we expect Him to do so much for us, and He has. However, there is some work to be done on our part.  In order for God work (not that God needs our help), we have to first move our feet. We have to be willing to take the first step. Think of it like this, as we move our feet, God is the bulldozer that is clearing the path. Even as God clears the path, our free will has to come into play. God can show you and lead you, however, it requires an active participant.

It’s easy to say that nothing is happening for you; no doors are opening, or you seem stuck. But before blaming anyone for your life’s problems and downfalls, I challenge you to a self-evaluation. Ask yourself these 3 things:

1.      What have I done?

2.      What am I doing?

3.      What can I do to get there?

The mental part of taking the step is much harder than you think. How do you talk to yourself? Do you have healthy thinking? The Bible declares, so a man thinketh, so he is. (Proverbs 23:7)  Sometimes we can allow self-talk to keep us from our blessings. We can allow our inner critic, which is only the spirit of the enemy, to dictate our value or worth.  We allow that kind of thinking and talking to become a reality. Then, it causes us to become complacent and content in misery.

In order to make a healthy step, you need healthy thoughts. Self-talk, is the best talk.  I encourage you today to take the step to bettering you, encouraging yourself, speaking life into yourself and your situation.  You can become what you think, whether good or bad. You have the power to shape this life of yours by simply taking a step.  Small steps equate to huge changes.  The saddest part about quitting is not that you’ll never get there, but that you have to keep starting over.  That’s exhausting and can put you in a miserable place.  Begin each day with a grateful heart and with thanksgiving.  When gratefulness pours from the very spot in which you stand, that’s when miracles happen.  Like my dad use to say when we were younger, “mine your mouth”. In other words, watch what you say. Be gentle with yourself. Change is on the way. I love you! Have an amazing day!
