Ecclesiastes 3:1tells us, there is a time and season for everything, and a season for everything under the heavens. Even in Acts 1:7 we are reminded that it is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.
When we think of “in season”, fresh fruits and vegetables come to mind; even the growth of certain trees and flowers may come to mind. In season, fruits and vegetables are the sweetest and most crisp during this time of year. In season, trees are growing and producing, and flower are budding their prettiest blooms. To grown in season means that you are at your best. It means that you are in the pinnacle season of your life operating at full capacity. However, there is a process that goes on behind the scenes before you can reap the harvest of this season. It is impossible to put in little but reap great reward.
In season, is defined as to be grown or available at a certain time of year; at the right or proper time; stage of greatness. I am inclined to think that when God said there is a time and season for everything under the heavens, He didn’t just mean fruits and vegetable, but He also meant for you and me; for our lives and for our future. I am certain God has the whole world in His hands and He has each moment of our lives orchestrated at His perfect time.
In order to grow in season, there is a time to toil and prepare your grounds for planting: what plans, or preparation have you put in place to prepare for planting. You can’t plant seeds in unprepared soil. You will not reap the benefits of your seed, if you don’t plow the ground. You must plant your seeds on sure ground.
In order to grow in season, you must plant your seeds: what seeds are you planting? Are you expecting a harvest? Your seed reflects the harvest you want to reap. If you plan little, you reap little. You must be strategic in your planning, which means including God in the plans you think you have for yourself. You must plant in faith, but also plant with purpose. You should plant your seeds with an attitude of expectation. A farmer doesn’t plant with hopes of a harvest, but he plans with the expectation of harvest.
In order to grow in season, you must tend to your garden: In your season of expectation, there is still work to do. There is still growth going on behind the scenes although the harvest isn’t ready. In this season, your faith is tested, but its growing. In this season it seems as is nothing is happening. This is the season of perseverance and courage and boldness. This is the season where you are needed most, where the intricate deals of your dreams are being developed. This is your season of prayer and faith. Pray and faith it through; your dream your harvest depends on it.
Now, the Harvest! All the of the hard work that you’ve put in, the sweat the tears, the sleepless night are now paying off for your in season blessing. I certainly believe that God will not give us blessings out season, because we will do something to mess it all up. The promises of God are yes and amen, but they are also timely; not when you want them, but when He thinks you a ready for them. We can’t force God’s hand for nothing in our lives; faith is the only thing that moves God, not our tears or complaining. God isn’t going to give us anything that He know we can’t handle.
God’s blessings work just as the seasons of the farmer. There is a season for everything, but if this isn’t your season then you won’t reap that harvest, not yet that is. I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that God doesn’t just protect me from the snares of the enemy, but He also protects me from myself. I want to grow in season, to be ready and prepared for the blessings that God has for me. Out of season blessings are not sweet, and as God declared to us in Proverbs 10:22, the blessings of the Lord enriches, and He adds no sorrow to it.
I encourage you in this season, to wait on God, trust the process, take your time, and be strategic in your ways. God uses the times of preparing, planting, and tending to prepare us for the harvest.
