As we celebrate Holy Week, we are reminded of Christ’s arrival into Jerusalem as King; we are reminded of the 10 virgins; we are reminded of the plot against Jesus; we are reminded of the death of Jesus; and we are reminded of the Resurrection.
In all that I’ve read about what Jesus endured for you and me, I am reminded of this week of grace. Holy week looks and will be celebrated a little different this year, but it doesn’t change the significance of the story and the love He endured on the cross. As I ponder the love and life of Jesus, all I see is grace, grace for His people.
Grace is defined as courteous goodwill; elegance; free and unmerited favor; sanctification
Not just love, as if love wasn’t enough, but grace was shown toward each of us when Christ died on the cross. It was and still is an open display and invitation to salvation and freedom from sin. The open opportunity to live the promised abundant life in Christ. It was love that put Him on the cross, but it was grace that kept Him there; even after being mocked to save himself. It was goodwill and the favor of God that His son gave His life for this world. It is by grace that we can go to the Father and be forgiven; it is by grace that we are redeemed; it is by grace that we are saved; it is by grace that we are set free. We are sanctified through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. God granted us free and unmerited favor through His son.
Oh, but for grace. As you reverence this week of grace, although we may not be able to gather in celebration, the grace displayed on the cross, is the same grace available today. Although, we may face trying days ahead, as Christ declared in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “but he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ power may rest on me”. We serve a living resurrected King.
Happy Holy Week!
Blessings Flow!
