Fixed Like Jesus

Fixed is defined as fastened or secured in position; to make firm or stationary; to put in order

And we know that Christ gave His life on the cross.  That was the main event, the greatest expression of love to mankind.  Jesus staying nailed to the cross was a representation of his posture and position of obedience to the Father and love toward mankind.

Hebrews 12:2 states, “fixing your eye on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Christ on the cross should be a mirror reflection to His people.  In spite of the pain, discomfort, agony and distress, Christ stayed fixed on the will of God, and not his own.  Christ cried out to the Father in Matthew 26:39 saying, if it’s possible, please take this cup from me; nevertheless, not my will, but your will be done.  I find comfort in knowing that God didn’t leave the ugly part out.  Christ’s obedience to the Father and love for His people out weighed his desire to leave the cross.  Christ knew that in staying fixed to the cross and His eyes on the Father, his life, death and resurrection would cover the multitude of sins.  Christ staying fixed on the cross, until it was finished benefited the greater good of humanity. God’s plans are always far above what we can ask or think.

Christ didn’t lay down his life for you to be fixed like the world, to act like the world, love like the world, or respond like the world.  Let your love and obedience for Christ remind you to be fixed like Jesus, act like Jesus, love like Jesus, and respond like Jesus.  When you make the choice to be fixed like Jesus, you are echoing the same sentiments of Christ on the cross, Lord, not my will, but let your will be done.  God has purpose and promise beyond your pain and discomfort.  God has purpose and promise beyond your feelings and emotions.  God has purpose and promise beyond your discomfort and beyond your physical and mental ability to see what’s next.  God’s will for your life, in this life is far greater than you can imagine or think.

As we commemorate this Holy Week, may you be reminded to keep your heart and mind fixed on Jesus. God’s will is always for the greater good.  God’s will doesn’t just cover the moment, but it covers the life.  May your posture reflect the posture and position of Christ, to let God’s will be done in your life.  God’s will guarantee exposure to the promise.  I’ll leave you with this poem:

God didn’t fix me to fight like you, He fixed me to fight like Jesus.

I don’t have to pray like you. I don’t have to fight like you.

I don’t have to speak like you. I don’t have to look like you.

All I have to do is be fixed like Jesus.

Happy Holy Week
