So now what we’ve discussed “The adoption”, let’s now discuss the “The Family”. When you are adopted, you now belong to that family. You take on the name and traditions of that family; you are now one of them and you operate as one of them.
One of the many definitions of family is defined as descendants of a common ancestor; a group of people related by common characteristics.
Your family doesn’t not necessarily be your blood, but its kinship in likeness, characteristics, common beliefs and goals. As men and women of God, His children, His chosen descendants, you are now family, so take your place. You are now in kinship with God, a part of a priestly family. I know that family can mean a lot of things of different things to a lot of people. But I am not just talking about your natural family, I am speaking of your spiritual family.
In 1 John 3:2 it states, beloved, we are God’s children now. When God appears, we shall be like Him.
In 1Peter 2:9 it states, but you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation for His own possession.
You see, we are God’s special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of the darkness and into the light, take your place. As being a part of the family of Christ, He tells you where you belong, so, take your place. Your place is in the light; your place is in the front and not in the back; your place is above and not beneath; your place is the head and not tail.
In John 1:12-13 it says that to all who received Him and to those who believe in His name, he gave the right to become Children of God; children not born of natural descent, or of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
In the family of God, you are afforded every birth right to the promise, therefore, take your place. In this family, you don’t have to fight for your place, you can take your place. In this family, God prepares tables before you in the presence of your enemies, take your place; in this family your cup runs over, so take your place; in this family, weapons may form but they won’t prosper, so take your place. In this family, God takes what man deems unclean and make it clean. In this family what man deems as useless, God uses and confounds the wise. In the family of God, you are covered, protected, prepared, chastised in love, and set a part, so friends, take your place.
Don’t you dare mishandle your position of being God’s chosen one. There has always been a place for you. Sometimes, it takes some of us longer to get there or recognize the power of our place in Christ. But, the good thing about your place is that God will always keep it for you. There is power in your place, so take you place.
In Matthew 7:11 states, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give good gift to those that ask Him.
So now that I am family, I have a birth right to ask the Father for what you need and he will give it to you. In the family of God, God wants to do good for you and do good through you. He loves you, you know that! Friend, take your place. You are now a part of a family that can be saved from sin, redeemed iniquity, and set part, a light upon a hill that cannot be dimmed. Your confidence comes not from yourself, but in knowing you have a Father that is loving, forgiving, and celebrates you. Nobody loves like God, forgives like God, redeems like God and uplifts like God, give good gifts like God. That’s family, and that’s love. You belong, and He is waiting for you! Take your place!
