Tethered is defined as tied to; to connect; attached for security; fasten or restrained; sourced
Life can sometimes be difficult. In this life we are certain to face adversity, trials, troubles and disappoint. However, we are also assured the good life, an abundant life we if follow the directions and instructions of God. I think in life its’ all about choices and perspectives. It depends on how we look at our glass in challenging times is what determines our attitude toward the things we face in life. We know that when difficult circumstances present themselves often times there isn’t much we can do to instantly change it, but we always have the power to change the way we think and act. We can choose to let it define us, or we can let our faith in the Father define it for us. This is why it is so important to stay tethered, connected to the Father. God’s word is the only sure thing that we have in this life. His words promise life, love, care and direction.
God details the importance of being tethered in John 15:5 where it states, I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
He also reminds us in John 15:6 of what happens when we don’t stay connected, “if you do not remain in me you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such as branches picked up and thrown in the fire.
This reminds us of our choices in choosing Christ or choosing one’s own self will. It details the differences in choosing life or death; or choosing one’s own will over the will of God. In this life, we are faced with so many reasons why to disconnect from God; rather it be challenges in our personal lives, our family or even on our jobs. This life tries to teach us that we can do life alone. It teaches us that we know what is best for ourselves. It teaches us that all we have to do is motivate ourself and put our minds to it and we can do it. That cute, right. However, God told us that we cannot do anything outside of Him. In the disconnect, we lose the proper direction for life, we aim to be our own fixers and problem solvers. We try to make it happen in our own strength. We feed ourselves the lies of capability, when God has already told us that its only in Him that we live and have our being.
This society tells us that being tethered to God is a trap and you can’t have any fun or enjoy life. That is the farthest thing from the truth. God gave us life and life with boundaries to protect us from so many of the heartaches that we face today. God’s boundaries and direction is for our safety and the fulfillment of a great life. It’s not meant to take anything from us, however to give everything to us. When Holy Spirit gave me this word tethered, he also gave me the illustration to go with it. As being ambassadors of Christ, we are indeed tethered to heaven. The illustration was of men and women of God walking the earth with cable cords connected to our backs plugged in from heaven. Think of your computer plugged into its source to be charged; think of all your small appliances plugged into the electrical sockets in order to work; think of your cell phone, being charged after you have used it all day. Well, it’s the same for us being tethered to the Father in Heaven. When we are tethered to heaven, we have a sure source. We charge ourselves in the word of God; we refill our cups when we have poured much of ourselves into work, family or friends. God replenishes what we use; God replenishes after stress, discouragement and disappointment. God is our source and everything we use to maintain this life is a resource. Therefore, we are sourced through Christ. God’s promises are yes and amen but only as we are tethered.
I know this pandemic has pressed heavy on many people in many different ways. However, during this pandemic God has reminded me to stay tethered, stay connected. Change is inevitable and there is nothing we can do about that, but we can pray and remain tethered. There is nothing we can do about the pandemic, there is nothing we can do about people and how people act or react, but we can remain tethered. God is not expecting us to be fixers and heavy load carriers, but as men and women of God, He is expecting us to remain prayerful, diligent and tethered to His word. I encourage you to stay plugged in to the word of God and what He is saying. God is giving us all the instructions that we need to navigate the unsurety of this world. God is looking for faithful men and women of God to lead without wavering. I encourage you to stay tethered to the vine, which is Christ. This life may promise you a good time, but that’s it. However, God’s word promises abundant life, grace, love, and forgiveness. No matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like, no matter what you wish it to be, stay tethered.
I encourage you to ponder these scriptures. I mean really get them in your spirit and let this lead the days and weeks ahead:
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2
I love you, Blessings Flow
