Colossians 3:2 states to set your mind on things above, not on things of this earth.
Peter walked on water because he was focused on Jesus (Matthew 14) He said, Jesus if it’s you, tell me to come. This sounds like a dare to me. And, Jesus responded, come. This is proof that Jesus will test us, not to prove anything to Himself, but to prove something to us. Jesus doesn’t need convincing, we do.
Peter followed the direction of Jesus and accomplished something he could have never done. His focus was so enjoined to Christ that he left the safety of the boat to join Jesus on the water. Think about it for moment, if that was you, I could imagine the thoughts running through your mind: “are you crazy, I’m not coming out there!” Lol. Many of us would think the same way, but that didn’t stop Peter from following the voice and the instructions of Jesus.
There will be many times in your life when God will call you out of the boat. However, outside of the boat, requires faith, so stay focus. In this life there is a reliance on God that is required. I heard a quote once that said, “a boat is built on the shore, but it’s not meant to stay there”. In order for the boat to be used to its full capacity it must get into the water. This is also true for our lives, so stay focus. In Christ, we are not called to safety, we are called to faith. Life has a way of throwing some dirty punches, but in strong faith we can withstand. Time out for always playing it safe. We are called to be men and women of faith and of standards. Out of the boat if where you strengthen your faith; it’s where you learn to preserve, so stay focus.
The enemy wants to distract you from the promises of God. One of his greatest weapons is deception, but God has overcame the enemy’s schemes and deception through the blood of Jesus. Deception doesn’t not have to be your story or your end. The enemy would have loved for Peter to drown, but that wasn’t the will of God.
In the time of trouble and doubt, when Peter was sinking, Jesus gave Peter His hand. God is there, always, so stay focus. Your environment is ever changing. Sometimes, it may be calm and sure, and then sometimes you’ll feel turbulence and uncertainty, but one thing for sure your faith should remain constant. So, stay focus. God proves to us time and time again that He is able, not for His sake, but for our sake, so stay focus. It’s the will of God that we prosper and be in good health just as our soul prospers. God loves you no less today than the day you were formed in your mother’s womb. God’s love is not measured by our deeds, buts it’s measured by grace, so stay focus.
Don’t be consumed by what you see. As for Peter, his fear consumed him and he began to sink. Let your focus be on Christ. Life may rage, but stay focus; there will be uncertainty, but stay focus; and there may be times you just want to quit, but refocus.
Love you, blessings flow
