I was sitting at my computer and I was thinking to myself, “doubt is a son of a b!$&h. You know the word I’m talking about. You’ve said it a time or two in your life. But, the Holy Spirit corrected that thought, and said, doubt is the son of satan.
Doubt is defined as fear or lack of confidence, uncertainty, and lack of trust, in God.
Doubt is nasty; it doesn’t fight fair. It shows up at the most inopportune times. It shows up when you’re vulnerable and unsure of what’s to come. It shows up when things aren’t going right or the way you think they should go. It slims its way all through your thoughts, feelings, emotions and then your actions to the point that you become unrecognizable to yourself and even to others. You find yourself questioning God’s word for your life. Doubt changes the way you think, feel and see things. Doubt distorts everything you know to be true and moral. Doubt distorts your view and vision. It distorts your reality. It causes you to believe it’s all a waste of time. Doubt cause you to become erratic and irrational in your thoughts and feelings. Doubt ostracizes you from those whom you love. It ostracizes you from your moral compass and the truth. Doubt causes you to try and re-create your own reality based on what you think and feel. Doubt causes you to become reckless and immoral. Doubt separates, isolates, then feed to kill. Doubt incapacitates you, paralyzes you, robs you, humiliates you, drains you and then showcase you for all to see.
Doubt at its core destroys what God builds, shrinks what God increases, and kills what God gives life to. Doubt is the son of satan.
Doubt sows seeds of conflict between you and the word of God. Doubts sows seeds of uncertainty and fear which causes you and I to question the true intention and nature of God. However, the word of God tells us that a carnal mind (a mind of flesh) is hostile towards God. (Romans 8:7) Therefore, doubt causes us to be in direct conflict with our Heavenly Father merely by what we think. Doubt is the son of satan, and satan is the father of lies.
We have to be careful how we sow our bodies, thoughts, feeling, words and actions into this world. The world is unable to give a return on your seed. The world responds to your seeds through envy, jealousy, shame, greed, lack and discontentment. However, when we sow our bodies, feelings, thoughts, our heart and emotions to God, God responds with grace and mercy. God responds to our seeds with holy covering. When we back slide and allow doubt to peruse through us, then when we come to (as the old folks say), then grace and mercy has to double back and clean up the damage doubt has created. The Holy Spirit then has to regenerate the loss of God’s word in your heart. Many things of this world can be so tempting because it looks good and feels good, but trust me, I have learned and still learning things are not always as they seem. But, our Heavenly Father in Heaven knows our deepest desires and provides our needs at every end.
I encourage you as I also encourage myself, trust God in this fight; lay down that burden, be still and know. Let God lead. Be careful what you sow in desperation, because what you plant will grow.
