Don’t Disappoint Yourself

Good morning & Happy Monday!

I was having a conversation with my mom this weekend, and I said, sometimes I feel like I disappoint God. She said, you disappoint yourself. It stung but it’s true.

Disappointed in self lies in disobedience. We can’t disappoint God, but we can disobey God. We disobey God through our unfaithfulness.

John 3:12 says I have spoke earthly things and you do not believe, how then will you believe if I speak heavenly things? God is saying, “you don’t even believe me?”

If we refuse to believe the confession of our own faith, how do we expect God to do anything for us, to hear us or help us. We disappoint ourselves by professing a faith we ourselves don’t believe sometimes.

It doesn’t get any clearer than James 1:6-8, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Unfaithfulness gets us nothing from God. We don’t disappoint God, we disappoint ourselves with unbelief. We disappoint ourselves with double mindedness. We disappoint ourselves with thinking we know better than God. We disappoint ourselves with unfaithfulness. We disappoint ourselves by trying to rush God’s hand. How do we profess Jesus as our savior, the Lord of our life, but we question his word and judgement? Sometimes, we are so disrespectful to God without even realizing it. We’ve got to change that. Thank God for grace and mercy in our seasons of unfaithfulness.

As a Christian believer, let us respect ourselves by believing what the word of God says. God’s word is His love in action. Believe the profession of your faith that the one who promise is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23) Amen!

Be encouraged, blessings flow!
