Discomfort is defined as being uneasy; an inconvenience; disturbance; an interference; to disturb the comfort of happiness; mental or bodily distress; annoyance.
I started a workout boot camp on yesterday, and I must say that it was a definite challenge for me. I woke up this morning sore and aching. I didn’t want to get out of the bed, because of the soreness, let alone go to work. Lol. At that moment, my mind begins to set focus on the pain, soreness, and discomfort I was feeling. I mean everything was aching……from my shoulder to my feet. But as I began to get moving, something happened; although the sores was relevant, the more I moved, the more I stared to feel a little better. Then my focal point began to change because, I wasn’t feeling as bad as when I first awoke.
Life is all about FOCAL points. So as I started my day, the Lord brought it all back to my remembrance; all the reasons as to why I started the boot camp. I could have allowed my focus to be on the pain and discomfort; I could allow it to ruin my day; I could let it hinder me, rather than motivate me. But instead, I decided to change my focal point, and focus more on the benefits of the discomfort, and the amazing results that I will receive from the discomfort. You can look at discomfort two ways: either you can allow the actual discomfort to be your focal point, or you can focus on the benefits that will come from the discomfort.
“The Beauty in Discomfort”, are that goals and results that you are aiming form. The same is for the DREAMS of your heart. Sometimes, you are placed in uncomfortable positions/situations; where things are not going as planned; a few doors may have been closed in your face; or your plans have been halted, deterred, or maybe overthrown. The question you can ask yourself is, “How do I plan to deal with this discomfort?” Will you allow your discomfort to motivate you, or hinder you? Will you focus on the discomfort or the results you are aiming for? In order to overcome, you must keep working; keep moving even through the discomfort. If you stop, then guess what, when you start again, you will have to experience that discomfort again. The only way to overcome the discomfort, is to KEEP MOVING? Your victory is not in the discomfort, but in the results. You can only reap what you sow!!!! Within the “Beauty of Discomfort” lies your confidence to go forward confidently in the Lord!!! You don’t have to keep starting over if you never stopped in the first place. In everything that you do, you need the strength of Christ!!! So before you go and start complaining all over again, weigh the discomfort and the benefits of reaching your goals; hopefully reaching your goals outweigh your discomfort!!!
