The Pursuit of Earthly Treasures

They glitter, sparkle, shimmer, and have monetary value and you just have to have them, right? You figure, that job with the bigger salary is the end to all your problems; that nicer more expensive car will make you feel and look more exquisite; that bigger house will make you feel like you have arrived; new clothes and shoes will make you feel better.

Well, I’m here to tell you, it’s all lies. It doesn’t make you feel better, it doesn’t make you feel important, and it doesn’t take away your worries and frustrations.  But it sure does add debt.

Matthew 6:19-21 tells us, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The pursuit of early treasures lead to a road of destruction because too often we may look to earthly things to fill a need that only God can handle.  God promised that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory (Philippians 4:19). We know that God is rich in houses and land. We know that God has kings heart in his hand.  In other words, God has multiple streams of ways to bless His people.  Sometimes, we put God in a box and we assume that God can only bless us a certain way. If things are not happening to way we think they should happen, then God must not be moving. But God’s way are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). You may be looking for God to show up in a car, but He arrives in a plane, Lol!!

God is a grand God, and He doesn’t need an introduction, just an invitation to be a part of your life. God has the ability to use the very thing that hurt you, to bless you; the very people that try to tear you down, to build you up.  God even dares us to try Him, in Malachi 3:10, Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

God is a God of righteousness, decency, and order.  All that we need and desires is on the other side of trusting God. God has blessings with your name on it, but they must be claimed.   State your claim today; trust God for what He says. I pray you’re having a great day! -BlessingsFlow
