When my work day is coming to an end, I normally use my phone to ponder upon scriptures to find one that is best suitable for my day. So, on today, the scripture that best fits is,
“The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much” in other words, “the effective prayer of a righteous man is powerful and produces results”. (James 5:16)
I wrote it down on a sticky note and stuck it to my computer. But as I was writing this afternoon, the Lord placed this on my heart,
“To trust God is to watch a rose blossom from a thorny bush”
That is a very powerful word. Let’s look into this a little deeper. I took the liberty to define the meaning of these words.
Rose:
A thorny or prickly bush or shrub that bears a red, pink, yellow, or white fragrant flower; prickly stem flower.
I also defined trust:
Firm belief in or reliability; strength; confidence; assurance or reliance.
A rose bush is a shrub with leaves and thorns. The bush is not found attractive until the roses begin to bud. You begin to see the beauty in the shrub as the roses begin to bloom. When it does, you are compelled to touch it, smell it, and even pick it. However, most times you are warned to be careful because you don’t want to hurt yourself among the thorns.
The beauty in trusting God is the same as that of a rose bush. Just as we wait patiently for our rose bushes to bear beautiful roses, we must also wait patiently for God to work in our lives. Now ask yourself, how can something so thorny bear something so beautiful?! Those thorns represents our trials and tribulations, worries, frustrations, and even disappointments. But trusting and relying on God through it all makes us stronger, wiser, and better. As your face the thorns of your life you must do your best to keep your eye on the promise.Sometimes, they hurt, don’t feel right or look right, and even make you cry from time to time but you must rest in the care of God knowing that He’s with you every step of the way.
Trusting God, means to be patient and steadfast. When you move too hastily you experience more thorns than necessary. You end up causing more damage than your are actually helping.
It’s only through trusting God that we can see the beauty through the thorns. You are able to stand tall because God brought you through that difficult situation. The splendor that you experience is that of a beautiful rose. God allows us to bare the thorns in order to experience the rose. God promises the rose if we faint not.
As God word declares, “when you have tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10)
I know it’s easy to despise the thorns, but know that it’s the very thorns that will develop us into that beautiful rose.
I pray this encourages your spirit. I hope you have an amazing week ahead. Love you. God bless!
